For the results of scientific studies to be used to improve healthcare services, they must have scientific evidential value. Millions of studies are conducted annually, and their results are shared electronically. Despite the rapid updates and developments in information due to the internet and the information age, the reliability of this published information is often questionable. Therefore, in recent years, the 'evidence-based medicine' approach has become widespread in healthcare decisions worldwide. Developments in evidence-based medicine have created a need for multidisciplinary research. Looking at the criteria established by international peer reviewers to standardize articles published in international journals, emphasis is placed on sub-topics such as sample size and power analysis, randomization, blinding, and statistical methods. Therefore, for research articles prepared by researchers in our country to gain international acceptance, the correct and effective use of biostatistical methods is essential.
The aim of the Biostatistics Department is to provide the necessary scientific education and consultancy support for conducting scientific studies with evidential value in the field of health sciences, thus raising the level of education and scientific studies to meet international criteria.
Education and Training:
Our department provides Biostatistics courses at the undergraduate level for the Faculties of Medicine and Dentistry, and Advanced Biostatistical Methods courses at the graduate level for the Institute of Health Sciences.
Statistical Consulting:
Our department provides free biostatistical consulting services to Medical Faculty research assistants for their specialization theses and to scientific research conducted at the Faculty of Medicine.
In addition, applications for consulting services from departments outside our faculty or from outside our university are charged through the revolving fund. Detailed information on receiving paid statistical consulting services can be obtained from the announcements section.
