Our department was established in 1992 by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Levent Elbeyli. It has grown from a single-bed ward to a clinic with a total of 23 ward beds, 4 intermediate intensive care beds, and 3 intensive care beds today. Dr. Levent Elbeyli received his Associate Professorship in 1996 and his Professorship in 2002. Meanwhile, Dr. Bülent Tunçözgür started as a lecturer in 1997, became an Associate Professor in 2003, and a Professor in 2008. Among the faculty members who joined our clinic at different times, Dr. Cumhur Sivriköz currently continues his academic career as a Professor at Eskişehir Osmangazi University. Since its establishment, a total of 8 physicians have joined the healthcare community as specialists in Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Ahmet Feridun Işık joined in 2005 and Dr. Maruf Şanlı in 2006, having previously worked and then left our department. Currently, our department has 2 professors, 1 assistant professor, and 5 research units developing academically. Through the work and efforts made since its establishment, it has increased the number and variety of surgeries annually, currently performing an average of 600 major surgeries, 1200 minor procedures, and approximately 800 endoscopic interventions, becoming a leading clinic in the region and in important events. All types of surgical procedures within the field of thoracic surgery are performed. These include congenital diseases and tumors of the lungs, trachea, esophagus, mediastinum, and breasts. Particular attention is paid to lung cancer, where procedures unsuitable for other hospitals in the region are performed with care and dedication.
