Our Department of Neurology began serving Gaziantep and surrounding provinces in 1991 with the appointment of Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Yılmaz as the founding faculty member of the Department of Neurology, and has continuously developed to this day. Currently, patient services, education, and research continue within our Department.

The Department of Neurology operates two general neurology outpatient clinics where initial consultations can be made daily, and outpatient clinics specializing in Epilepsy, Dementia, Movement Disorders, Headaches, Demyelinating Diseases, Peripheral Nerves, Neuromuscular Junction and Muscle Diseases, and Cerebrovascular Diseases, which operate on specific days of the week.

Appointments for initial consultations at the outpatient clinics must be made online through the hospital's appointment system. For outpatient clinics, consultations are possible as needed and at appropriate intervals.

Our Department has EEG and EMG laboratories. These laboratories serve the needs of the Department of Neurology as well as other departments and healthcare institutions.

Our department provides inpatient services with a 23-bed ward. Intensive care services are provided in the Internal Medicine ICU.

Medical students' education begins in the 3rd year with semiology and clinical introduction courses, and in the 5th year, it is provided with both designated theoretical courses and practical applications in outpatient clinics and wards.

Medical residents complete their training by working in the department in rotation, in addition to their legally regulated rotations, in wards, outpatient clinics, emergency rooms, ICUs, and ward consultations, and in EEG and EMG applications. Training seminars, journal sessions, and clinicopathological meetings are held alternately on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and ward cases are discussed on Wednesday mornings.

Since its establishment, it has trained 15 specialists. Currently, there are 8 Research Assistants.

EMG and EEG training is provided to physicians in response to applications from some hospitals in Gaziantep and surrounding provinces, and short-term (1-3 months) EEG technician training is conducted. Multicenter Phase 3 clinical trials are being carried out in our department, and clinical research is ongoing.
