The Department of Medical Biology, operating within the Basic Medical Sciences Division of the Faculty of Medicine at Gaziantep University, is an academic unit that prioritizes understanding the molecular mechanisms that form the basis of life sciences, placing scientific productivity and a high-quality education approach at its center. The mission of our department is to train physicians and scientists who can deeply understand the molecular structure and function of cells, analyze the molecular pathogenesis of hereditary diseases, possess advanced scientific thinking skills, high research competence, and adhere to ethical values. In this regard, preclinical Medical Biology and Genetics courses conducted in both Turkish and English programs of the Faculty of Medicine provide students with a strong theoretical foundation and introduce them to modern analytical methods. The vision of our department is to become a leading, innovative, and referenced academic center at the national and international levels in the fields of molecular medicine, genomics, biotechnology, and translational research. Within this scope, the production of scientific knowledge, as well as its transfer to clinical applications and its transformation into societal benefit, are among our primary goals. Through our postgraduate programs conducted within the Institute of Health Sciences, students are offered research-oriented, interdisciplinary, and up-to-date scientific approaches; The academic and professional development of young researchers is supported. With our 7 faculty members and strong research infrastructure, we conduct original research at the basic and molecular level in the fields of health and life sciences, and postgraduate thesis studies are carried out to high academic standards. Thanks to our advanced laboratory facilities and multidisciplinary approach, we have adopted the principle of making scientific productivity sustainable and training the scientists of the future.
