Until December 1993, courses in our Department were taught by various faculty members. At that time, Dr. Ali İhsan BOZKURT, who started working as a lecturer and was appointed as the Head of the Department, established the Department of Public Health and continued education and training. He transferred to Pamukkale University on January 13, 2003.
Prof. Dr. Servet ÖZGÜR started working in the Department in October 1995, served as the Head of the Department for 20 years from November 1995, and retired in November 2015.
Dr. Birgül Özçırpıcı started working as a research assistant in our Department in July 1995, received her specialization in May 2000, became an Assistant Professor in October 2002, an Associate Professor in March 2011, and a Professor in August 2017. She has been serving as the Head of the Department since November 2015.
Dr. Neriman Aydın started working in our department as a lecturer in September 2005 and was appointed as an Assistant Professor in August 2007. She has also been serving as the Head of the Department of Medical Education and Informatics since May 2017.
In addition to Turkish-English Medical Faculty Public Health courses, a Public Health Master's program was launched in the Institute of Health Sciences in the 2002-2003 academic year. Currently, these courses are taught by 1 Professor and 1 Assistant Professor.
Our Vision; According to the definition made by the World Health Organization Expert Committee in 1952, Public Health is; "It is the science and art of organizing these benefits to prevent disease, prolong life, and improve health and well-being through environmental sanitation, infectious disease control, organized community work for the education of individuals on personal hygiene, organizing medical and nursing services for early diagnosis and preventive treatment of diseases, and developing social mechanisms to ensure an adequate standard of living for each individual, thus enabling every citizen to realize their inherent health and longevity." This definition shapes our vision.
Our mission as a department is to instill this definition and vision in students of the Faculty of Medicine and other health schools; to conduct research to identify the health status of society, its problems, and solutions to these problems, and to teach research methods; to implement the solutions identified as a result of research and to evaluate the results of the implementation.
